Vintage Styled Lace Collar Tutorial

Recently I've been busy making lots of handmade things for my birthday party which I'm really excited about, but also for my outfit. I'm still in the process of making my blue pinny for my costume but I made this sweet lace collar to go with my outfit as well. If you didn't know already I dressing up as Alice In Wonderland and thought I would add my own little vintage twist to it! :) I also met my lovely friend Sarah who you may know from the secret garden photo shoot and she was delighted to be my model for this little gem. Here's how to make it:
You will need:
  • Fabric
  • Cotton Lace
  • A Button
  • Sewing Machine
  • Iron
  • Scissors
  • Pins

1.Measure around your neck {Mine was 22inches} and cut a piece of fabric with a width of 11cm and the length to be of your neck measurements. Fold in half, pin and with scissors curve the ends like above. 2.With a 1cm seam allowance sew the Curved edges and the open side but leave a 20cm gap. Then turn inside out. Then iron your collar flat. 3.Cut a piece of lace the length of the bottom edge of your collar. Pin it and sew on. This will sew up the gap as well. 4.Pick a button to go with your collar.
5.Sew the button onto the collar shown up above. Then either make a button hole or with thick thread sew a loop big enough for your button. 6.Finish the loop of with a knot on the back of the collar shown above.

Then wear your collar with pride knowing that it totally handmade!
By the way I've been making lots of felt and paper moustaches, bow-ties and glasses ready for the photo booth and have been crazily making garlands for my birthday party on Sunday. By the way did you know I am 15 tomorrow!
Isn't Harry the dog just the cutest! Have a lovely day! Much Love. Becky X

Adventures: A Wisteria Bridge

What I love about this time of year is the weather, you can dress up in dresses and pretty things, I can hang out with my best friend and drink cold milkshakes, have long light days to sew and create and see the beautiful flowers that thrive in this type of weather. This is what I LOVE!
On Friday I, Mum and Dad visited hall place, a garden and plant nursery. They have almost every type of plant that exists and beautiful settings to grow them in. The sun was a blessing and the temperature was just right so it was lovely to walk around. They even have a herb garden and mini gardens which each have a different atmosphere and look. Why not look at some photos of my day!
What's In My Bag?
As we walked around mum tried to teach me the names of plants. I can remember Iris which are the purple-blue flowers up above and foxgloves which are purple. But many flowers have very long peculiar names so I could only remember these 2.
I loved this little bench as you were safe from the sun and it looked out to many beautiful flowers. I brought my film camera with me too!
As we got to the other side of the garden they had the most fascinating topiary statues in all different characters. It reminded me of when we used to come here when I was little and we loved running around them and playing hide and seek.
I love doors like these which are rusty and old as they remind me of secret gardens and Alice In Wonderland. I love the feeling of magicalness.
This is the Wisteria Bridge. Once we had walked through the herb garden, down the steps to a little garden where my cousin used to love riding his little bike when he was little. We then walked up some steps and with a stride we arrived to this beautiful bridge. Covered in purple wisteria and smelt sweet by the expression on mum's face, it gave me this very name for my post. Isn't in lovely?!
By the river were ducks which with a glance looked like elegant statues. With beautiful feathers and shades of colours. As I came closer to this little bird she sat as still as a rock. I had to capture her beauty and I have one thing to say 'Thankyou for sitting so still, you are very photogenic Mrs.Duck'.
Thank you for reading! I hope you've enjoyed the insight to my visit to Hall place and the Wisteria Bridge. I have a whole lot to plan for my birthday and I'm so happy with my Alice costume. I'm making part of it myself! I'll share all the gossip soon! Much Love, Becky x

Adventures: A Day By Nature

Recently we visited the allotment which has really started to bloom. I love the allotment as it's like our own little patch of heaven and you almost feels like your in the countryside as it's so quiet, sitting under the tree in the shade eating our sandwiches. I and mum adventured around the allotments to be encountered with beautiful plants. As well as doing lots of digging, planting and making paths, well I helped a little bit :').
I love patterns, colour and anything rusting and the blueness and detail of this building was amazing so I had to get some snaps of it. On the other hand I came across the lovely lace window whilst talking to our Italian friend Vince. He let me look around his allotment whilst talking to mum and it was full of rhubarb, bluebells, lavender and the lace window belonged to the shed owned by his wife, I just loved it!

Mum was hard digging away and laying paths down, but this is the luscious rhubarb that Vince gave us, the funny thing is he has so much of it but he doesn't like eating it!
At the allotment they have recently built a eco friendly toilet which creates compost for the plants. Inside they had a lovely vase full of  pastel shaded flowers.
A lot of planting is on the way and I helped mum plant knapweed plants which come out with a beautiful purple flower. Down below is a picture of another allotment.
I hope you enjoyed my Allotment adventures ' A day by nature' as we were surrounded by nature and everything created by nature. Have a lovely sunny day! Becky ox
